Charlotte Covered Bridge 5K/10K & Half Marathon
September 12 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join us for one of our most popular races – and for good reason! This race sold out in 2019, so please do not wait to register. The race begins and ends at Shelburne Beach, on beautiful Lake Champlain, which is a favorite spot of Shelburne residents to have picnics, BBQs, play volleyball, swim, kayak, and let the kids play tetherball or climb on the playground. Your family may enjoy spending time here while waiting for your return. Along the course, you will pass Shelburne Orchard and run along a picturesque dirt/gravel road featuring wonderful views of Vermont countryside. Run past Charlotte Beach just before entering the Holmes Creek covered bridge for the first time. The course continues on quiet, rolling hills before arriving at the turnaround where you will head back the way you came. This race is a great race for all running abilities because it is a relatively flat course. If you are just starting out, you may opt to do a 5K or 10K instead. These shorter distance runs follow the course of the half marathon; however they both turn around BEFORE reaching the covered bridge. This race has something for everyone and is a treat to run – especially to our visitors from out-of-state. In 2019 we had runners from all New England states, as well as Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Washington DC, West Virginia and also from Canada – Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec.
Finishing at the beach, racers will be awarded a finishers medal and then treated to refreshments followed by an awards ceremony and post-race raffle. It’s really a great day of racing.
This race has a 500 person limit.
