Spring Fling 5K/10K

Description of Event: Celebrate the arrival of spring (or the end of winter) in this 5K/10K race. Beginning and ending at Shelburne Health & Fitness on Athletic Drive (at the Field House), this race follows a scenic country out-and-back route. The 5K is relatively flat, whereas the 10K has some hills. Long-sleeved wicking shirts are available for this event ($25) if pre-ordered by March 1.Kristin Camp and Kirsten Wiley will be offering Sports Massage at this race, integrating techniques learned at the Olympic Training Center Sports Medicine Hospital. The proceeds of this service go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and are by donation with a suggested fee of one dollar per minute.

Please note that this is a running event – No walkers please. The course time limit is 14 min/mile.

Date/Time: Saturday, March 22, 2014; 9 am
Distance: 5K (3.1 miles) or 10K (6.2 miles)
Cost: $20 if pre-registered (pre-registration closes March 19, 2014)
$10 will be added for Race-Day registration.
$25 long-sleeved wicking shirt (if ordered by March 1)
Registration Time: Race Day bib pick up will be 7:45 to 8:45 am on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Pre-race pickup will be available at Fleet Feet Sports in Essex Junction, VT on Friday, March 21.

Directions to Race: Drive to the intersection of Route 7 (Shelburne Road) and Harbor Road.  Turn onto Harbor Road and continue over the railroad track.  Turn right onto Athletic Drive shortly after the railroad track.
Where to Park: Racers: Shelburne Community School parking lot (corner of Harbor Road and School Street), Shelburne Train Station parking lot (on left just before crossing the RR track if coming from Route 7), Shelburne Town Hall (Route 7 across from Church Street)Volunteers: Field House parking lot (south end)

Awards: Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers in both the 5K and the 10K divisions in addition to the top finisher in each age group (5 year groups).  There will also be raffle prizes awarded in a random drawing of those racers in attendance during the awards ceremony.
